Trauma Therapy
EMDR and somatic approaches for healing single-incident and complex trauma through an anti-oppression, liberation-focused lens that honors your full identity and lived experience.
Trauma therapy isn't just about "getting over" what happened to you. It's about reclaiming your sense of safety, agency, and wholeness while honoring the reality that some of your trauma comes from living in systems that weren't designed to support people like you.
I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced both single-incident trauma (accidents, medical procedures, specific events) and complex trauma (ongoing abuse, systemic oppression, identity-based violence, medical trauma from discrimination). My approach integrates EMDR, somatic techniques, and parts work through an anti-oppression framework that understands how marginalization impacts both trauma and healing.
Why Anti-Oppression Trauma Therapy Matters
-
Traditional trauma therapy often ignores how systemic oppression creates and compounds trauma
-
Standard approaches can inadvertently blame individuals for "not healing fast enough" without addressing ongoing oppression
-
Many therapists lack training in how identity-based trauma shows up differently than other forms of trauma
-
Healing happens when we address both personal trauma and the systems that created it
